I started my journey from Old Panchkula, catching a bus to Solan for just ₹141. The ride was a treat; the rolling hills, quaint villages, and crisp mountain air made the hour-long trip feel like a mini adventure. Upon reaching Solan, I hopped onto a local bus to Jatoli Temple for under ₹20, winding through lush greenery along the way.

Reaching the Jatoli Shiv Temple, I was awestruck. This architectural marvel, located in Solan, was completed over nearly 39 years and is dedicated to Lord Mahadev. Devotees and travelers alike come here for Dershan, meditation, and photography. Sitting quietly in the serene hilltop surroundings, I felt a deep sense of calm and reflection. The temple’s peaceful vibe and green backdrop made it an ideal spot to recharge spiritually.

After soaking in the temple’s aura, I wandered to Mohan Shakti Heritage Park. Its gardens, statues, and walking paths made it a perfect place to stroll, breathe, and enjoy nature. Later, I found a quiet riverside spot nearby the gentle flow of water added to the day’s serenity.

Of course, no Solan trip is complete without exploring the local markets. I picked up Himachali handicrafts, woolens, and souvenirs for under ₹200. Street food here is a must-try: momos for ₹50, siddu for ₹30, and fresh local juices. I also discovered mushroom products and local honey, perfect little keepsakes. Haggling with shopkeepers was fun and made the experience feel even more local.

I couldn’t resist exploring hidden gems: the hilltop Shoolini Mata Temple, the charming streets of Kasauli just 30 minutes away, and the Chetwoode Hall ruins, a colonial relic perfect for photos. A quick stop at a local tea stall gave me a warm cup of chai while enjoying breathtaking hill views.

Finally, I ended the day watching the sunset over Solan’s hills. The sky glowed orange and pink, the breeze was fresh, and the calm mountains made all the city stress disappear. Sitting there in peace, I realized how fulfilling a simple, budget-friendly trip could be.

By the evening, on my bus ride back to Chandigarh, I felt completely rejuvenated. Solan had given me temples, markets, rivers, parks, hidden gems, and unforgettable sunsets all without spending much. It proved that adventure, peace, and style don’t require a big budget, just a little planning and a love for exploration.
